Why You’re Not Burning More Calories at Work
A lot of people want to burn more calories during the workday.
They look for small ways to move more at their desk.
Standing desks, fidgeting, short walks—those can help a little.
But they’re not the main driver.
The biggest factor in how many calories you burn during the day is your basal metabolic rate.
That’s the amount of energy your body uses at rest.
And one of the biggest contributors to that is muscle mass.
The more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns throughout the day, even when you’re not exercising.
That means the real work doesn’t happen at your desk.
It happens when you train.
If your goal is to increase daily calorie burn, focusing on building muscle is a more effective strategy than trying to “burn calories” while sitting.
If you want a plan built around actually increasing strength, muscle, and long-term results, reach out or stop by and talk with a coach.
