A Simple Way to Estimate Protein Portions
Many people struggle with nutrition because they think they need to track every calorie and gram perfectly.
That can work, but it’s not always practical.
A simpler approach is using portion estimates.
One easy way to estimate protein intake is using the size of your hand.
For foods like chicken, steak, or pork, a serving around the size and thickness of your palm is a reasonable starting point.
Fish and ground meats are often less dense, so portions may need to be slightly larger.
For snacks, roughly half a palm-sized serving is usually enough.
This isn’t meant to replace detailed nutrition planning, but it gives people a practical way to improve protein intake without overcomplicating things.
And for many people, simply increasing protein consistency can improve energy, recovery, and body composition significantly.
